For many of us who’ve been confined at home in recent weeks, the arts have been a lifeline — an experience to share with friends and family, a creative way to cope, a link to some sense of past normalcy or future hope. Unfortunately, the vision and imagination evident in the films, shows, music, books and games that are helping us through this time is sadly lacking in other quarters. Just as we have turned to the arts in this pandemic, our support systems have turned their backs on artists.
