The suspect in a Monday morning shooting in Fremont County has been located and arrested.
The Pueblo Police Department said Kevin Woodard, 28, was taken into custody late Monday night by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Woodard also was wanted in connection with a homicide that took place early Sunday morning in Pueblo.
According to the Pueblo Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Berkley Avenue regarding a shooting at 2:45 a.m. Sunday.
A deceased male victim was discovered who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. Pueblo police detectives initiated an investigation and identified the suspect as Woodard.
Fremont County Sheriff Allen Cooper said Woodard is suspected in a shooting that took place in the Coal Creek area at around 9 a.m. Monday. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
No other information has been made available as to the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Cooper said Woodward fled the scene of the Fremont County shooting and was believed to be in Westcliffe with a family member.
Members of the Fremont County Sheriff’s office, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and the Pueblo Police Department responded to the area but Woodward had changed vehicles and left the area prior to their arrival.
A statewide alert was sent out with the vehicle description which resulted in Woodward’s arrest.
