COVID-19 battle 1

After emerging from an eight-week battle against the coronavirus in a Florida hospital, Henry Bell rushed to tie the knot with his fiancee — in the medical center’s parking lot a day before his release.

Bell, 63, married Antionette Brown, 48, in the Orange Park Medical Center parking lot, surrounded by family and the hospital staff who had treated him. Brown’s uncle performed the ceremony on Thursday, according to a report.

“We decided to do it now because we feel they (the hospital staff) are like family and wanted to share the life they gave us back,” Brown told the Florida Times-Union.

Bell was admitted to the hospital Sept. 13, and immediately put on a ventilator, the Florida Times-Union reported. He also underwent a tracheostomy, a procedure to insert a tube into his windpipe which allows airs into the lungs, said the newspaper.

“It was touch and go for a while,” said hospital spokeswoman Carrie Turansky. “After the journey, he and his fiancee didn’t want to wait another minute to get married.”
