The University of Colorado Boulder and Front Range Community College will require masks in indoor public spaces starting this week, both institutions announced today.
Both CU Boulder and Front Range cited the spread of the COVID-19 delta variant for the decision to require masks.
The delta variant spreads faster and causes more infections than earlier forms of COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It can also infect people who have been vaccinated, though the vaccine still lessens the likelihood of severe illness, hospitalization and death.
CU Boulder’s mask requirement goes into effect on Friday, and Front Range began requiring masks indoors today.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
