Phase 3 is the final phase of testing before a vaccine may gain approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The trial, which is expected to start at UIC on July 9, is scheduled to last for two years, but the FDA could approve the vaccine sooner if it is clearly effective, Novak said.
