Shortly after the vaccines became widely available, Wilson had been going from house to house in her Belle Glade, Fla., community to encourage her neighbors to get vaccinated. Her husband, Steve Wilson, is also the mayor of her town — about 45 miles west of Palm Beach — and was among the first to receive their shot.
