His empire stretches from Oahu to Dubai, from Levi’s Stadium to Miami Beach.

Now, finally, San Francisco-based chef-entrepreneur Michael Mina is opening his first restaurant in California Wine Country.

The Wit & Wisdom Tavern — inspired by a volume of Jack London writings of the same name — will make its debut in mid-September at The Lodge at Sonoma, replacing the Carneros Bistro.

“A Wine Country project has been a long time coming,” said Mina, who lives not far away in rural Marin County.

Expect a focus on hearth-oven cooking with seasonal, artisanal Sonoma County and Napa Valley ingredients and, naturally, an extensive local wine list when Wit & Wisdom welcomes its first guests on the outdoor terrace. The restaurant will be open to both guests of the resort and Bay Area residents. Lunch and dinner will be served daily.

The Mina Group manages more than 40 restaurants worldwide. In the Bay Area, the Mina Family Kitchen is currently offering takeout and delivery of popular brunch, lunch and dinner dishes from his eponymous restaurant, from Pabu and from Mina’s International Smoke collaboration with chef Ayesha Curry.
