Biden Violates DC Mask Mandate at Georgetown

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden violated the indoor mask mandate in Washington, D.C., when they dined at an upscale restaurant on Saturday.

Video and photos taken at the dinner show the president and first lady walking maskless through Fiola Mare, an Italian restaurant in Georgetown.

The Bidens’ actions violate both D.C.’s indoor mask policy and Fiola Mare’s own rules.

“Masks must be always worn while in our restaurants, except while eating and drinking,” Fiola Mare’s website states. The Bidens are not eating or drinking in the video.

Biden has promoted mask-wearing since before his inauguration.

As early as June 2020, Biden said he “would insist that everyone in public be wearing that mask.” As president, he has issued sweeping mask mandates for public transportation and threatened governors who oppose mandates for schools.
