Working against a deadline, a bipartisan group of U.S. senators — including Illinois’ senior senator, Dick Durbin — are trying to put together yet another COVID-19 relief bill. This one’s expected to extend soon-to-expire unemployment benefits, provide $300 per week in federal bonus unemployment payments and deliver a new round of Paycheck Protection Program loans for businesses, Durbin said in a news release. But the package will forgo another batch of $1,200 direct payments to most Americans.
