Cook County Judge Michael Toomin officially lost the backing of the county’s Democratic Party today after a committee voted overwhelmingly in favor of a motion not to endorse him. The party cited its investigation of Toomin’s record overseeing the juvenile justice division but not the Smollett controversy, the Tribune’s Alice Yin writes. Two Chicago aldermen, Brendan Reilly, 42nd, and Tom Tunney, 44th, voted against the motion not to endorse Toomin.
