An outbreak of COVID at the El Paso County jail has prevented the accused murderess from receiving her psych evaluation

A COVID-19 outbreak at the El Paso County jail has led a 4th Judicial District court judge to postpone a court hearing for Gannon Stauch’s stepmom, who allegedly committed the murder of the 11-year-old boy in a violent act of savagery in January, The Gazette reports.

Gannon’s stepmom, Letecia Stauch, was set to have a hearing on Thursday regarding her murder charges, but Judge Greg Werner ordered the hearing delayed until mid-December at the soonest.

Letecia Stauch’s attorneys had requested that Gannon’s stepmom receive a delay in her hearing date because the COVID-19 outbreak interfered with a psychiatric evaluation she is supposed to receive.

Public defender Kathryn Strobel filed a motion on October 30 noting that not all of Staunch’s fellow inmates at the El Paso jail have been tested for the coronavirus.

In a motion dated Oct. 30, public defender Kathryn Strobel explained that not all of the inmates in the El Paso County jail had been tested for the virus, although 72 inmates had tested positive, adding that “the number of inmates who are positive for COVID-19 is likely to grow over the coming days and weeks.”

A psychiatrist was supposed to evaluate Leticia — Gannon Stauch’s stepmom, who is charged with murdering the boy — on October 30.

However, that appointment got canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The jail housing Leticia Stanch has canceled all in-person visits through November 30 at the earliest, 9 News NBC reports. So it will take some time for the psychiatrist to get to evaluate the stepmom accused of murdering little Gannon.

Leticia Stauch has been charged with first-degree murder after the stepmom allegedly killed her 11-year-old stepson Gannon.

Letecia Stauch reported him missing on Jan. 27 from his El Paso County home.

Investigators believe that Leticia Stauch, alleged stepmom from hell, killed young Gannon in his bedroom that afternoon by savagely attacking him.

She claimed that her stepson had gone out to play with friends and then vanished.

A massive search for the boy ensued and carried on for weeks, Crime Online reports.

In the end, though, Leticia Stauch was arrested and the stepmom was charged with murdering young Gannon.

Stauch was the sole caregiver at the time of the boy’s disappearance and death. Gannon lived with Stauch and his father, Al Stauch, in Fountain, near Colorado Springs.

Both Gannon’s dad and biological mother were out of town when the little boy vanished while in the care of his stepmom, Leticia — now charged with his murder.

The cops found a grisly scene in Gannon’s bedroom: blood spattered on the walls and soaked through the carpet and the mattress.

There was even blood on the wall sockets.

CBS Denver reports that Gannon Stauch’s stepmom, Leticia, was found competent to stand trial for his murder.

In September, a judge found Stauch competent to stand trial after a first mental evaluation was conducted at the Colorado State Mental Health Institute in Pueblo. That came after investigators accused her of plotting to escape from the jail.
