Long Island reported the second-highest number of COVID-19 cases among students and school staffers for any region in the state — a total of 3,923 lab-verified cases — according data released Monday by the state’s COVID-19 Report Card system.
New York City reported the highest number of cases with 6,234. The reports covered a period starting Sept. 1 and last updated Sept. 24, and was for students and staff in traditional school districts, charter schools and private schools.
