Two members of the Nuggets’ traveling party tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend, prompting the team to close its facilities, according to a league source.
Since the weekend, another member of the traveling party has tested positive, the source said, bringing the organization’s total to at least six confirmed cases since the season’s suspension.
All three are asymptomatic, according to another league source.
The decision to close the facility came after discussion and in accordance with the NBA. The team was tested Saturday, and those results forced the team’s practice facility closed beginning over the weekend. The facility is expected to be closed through at least Thursday, with the possibility of re-opening the gym Friday, according to a source.
It’s also possible it doesn’t re-open before the team leaves for Orlando in one week. It’s unclear when the three members of the traveling party might head to Orlando, but they won’t travel when the team was initially set to depart on July 7th.
The NBA expected positive tests, which is why it accounted for a two-week period before teams left for Orlando. Nikola Jokic and head coach Michael Malone were among the team’s positive tests.
