Two employees of a Ukiah restaurant and at least five people who attended community events in Willits recently tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, the Mendocino County Public Health Office reported.
According to a press release, at least five people who attended Willits Frontier Days, which included several events in recent weeks, recently tested positive for Covid-19. County officials are recommending that anyone who attended such events between June 25 and July 4 “seek Covid-19 testing if unvaccinated, or to seek testing if exhibiting symptoms while vaccinated.”
Also according to county officials, two employees of Jensen’s Restaurant, located at 1550 Lovers Lane in Ukiah, recently tested positive for the virus. Anyone who visited the restaurant between June 28 and July 1 is advised, again, “to seek Covid-19 testing if unvaccinated, or to seek testing if exhibiting symptoms while vaccinated.”
The press release also notes that “investigations are underway to determine the extent that these individuals might have had close contact with the public. Jensen’s Restaurant reported their two cases to Public Health, and those individuals are currently in isolation. We appreciate the efforts by Jensen’s and Frontier Days to find those who could be exposed, and Public Health only publishes their names since we are unable to identify everyone in the public who could have been exposed.”
County officials described Public Health employees as “prepared for the possibility of outbreaks due to increased close contact during the summer months,” and that “members of the public (are urged) to exercise their best judgment when choosing to attend events that might carry with them a higher risk of exposure.”
The press release also quotes Public Health Officers Dr. Andy Coren and Dr. Noemi Doohan as stressing “the importance of staying home from work when exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19. Common symptoms are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Other symptoms may include chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, fatigue, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or new loss of taste or smell.”
