It is true that there are many people, including several influential ones, that rail against Dr. Sara Cody and the other Bay Area public health officers.
However, for a lot of people like me, Dr. Sara Cody is a hero.
If not for the decisive actions she and the other public health officers in the Bay Area took, the number of COVID-19 infections in the Bay Area would have probably been similar to that we saw in New York City.
As we have seen over the past few days, opening everything up risks getting back to the situation we were in back in March. I commend Dr. Cody for standing her ground and proceeding cautiously based on data. In my view the relatively low infection numbers in the Bay Area shows that Dr. Sara Cody is winning.
