Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon has reopened after it was previously shut down due to a flash flood warning.

On Friday morning, the Colorado Department of Transportation announced the reopening, but said they are closely monitoring the weather forecast. CDOT says that they are prepared to close the road again should there be any more warnings.

On Wednesday, a flash flood warning was issued for Eagle and Garfield counties which forced the closure. The canyon closed in both directions from Glenwood Springs to Dotsero.

“This safety closure was implemented in response to the National Weather Service forecasted flash flood WARNING over the Grizzly Creek Burn Scar,” CDOT said.
