A suspected gunman was in custody Sunday night after an LAPD officer suffered a graze wound to the arm in a shooting at a Ralphs supermarket shopping center in Granada Hills.
Police had responded to the shopping center at Devonshire Street and Balboa Boulevard about 6:30 p.m. after a report of a man with a gun. In view of shoppers, the suspect fired several rounds at the first officer who arrived, Associate Police Chief Horace Frank said.
The officer and a second person were taken to a hospital, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Officers searched the center for 45 minutes before arresting the suspect, police said. Investigators were searching for the gun at the center.
