Daniels provided care to 86-year-old Barbara Gust when she allegedly stole the ring and a credit card. Daniels pawned the ring several days before Gust’s death, and she used the credit card for personal purchases on the same day Gust died from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus, the news release said.
Gust’s family realized the ring was missing as they were making arrangements at the funeral home, the news release said. They reported it to the Denver Police Department, and detectives secured the arrest affidavit for Daniels the same day.
