Coronavirus: East Bay Raley’s closed Monday after an employee tested positive 1

A Raley’s in Antioch closed late Sunday night and remained closed through Monday after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, a spokeswoman for the grocery retailer said.

An employee informed managers of the store in the 3600 block of Lone Tree Way of the positive test on Sunday after reporting to work, Raley’s spokeswoman Chelsea Minor said. The store responded to that news by shutting down the store at 9 p.m. Sunday.

It will open again Tuesday at 6 a.m., Minor said.

“The health and safety of our customers is our top priority,” Minor said in a statement. “We have closed for professional sanitizing by a third-party company. We believe the chance of exposure to our customers and team members is small.”

The employee who tested positive is quarantined at home and won’t return to work until being authorized by a medical professional, she said.

Another employee who worked in close contact with the one who tested positive also was sent home. That employee will receive paid leave.

Everybody scheduled to work on Monday also will be paid, Minor said.

“We are working closely one-on-one with (employees)  where unique circumstances exist or arise,” Minor said. “We have plans and measures in place to mitigate potential exposure and to ensure  as safe an environment as possible.”
