Anthony Hopkins plays piano for cat while at home amid coronavirus pandemic 1

Anthony Hopkins is practicing social distancing from humans, but not from his cat.

While spending time at home amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Oscar winner is playing piano for the feline.

“Niblo is making sure I stay healthy and demands I entertain him in exchange… cats,” he captioned a video on Instagram on Wednesday.

In 2012, Hopkins told NPR that growing up, he actually wanted to be a music composer.

“I became an actor by default, really,” he said. “I got a scholarship to a college of music and drama, hoping to take a scholarship in music. But I ended up as an acting student, so I’ve stuck with that for the last 50-odd years.”

Hopkins is now 82 years old, so he is among one of the demographics most at risk for catching coronavirus, according to the Center for Disease Control.

Page Six has reached out to Hopkins’ rep about how the star is taking precautions.

In the meantime, Hopkins is keeping his social media followers entertained with videos and photos of his cat, whom he often features on his Instagram. The actor shared the pair spent a “quiet” New Year’s Eve and Thanksgiving together.

The Daily News Hungary previously reported that the actor adopted Niblo while he was in Budapest filming a movie after the stray cat was brought to the concierge of his hotel.

In December, Hopkins said in Interview Magazine that “most” of his friends “are gone,” so he looks for the “illusion” of life in everything else.

“It’s in my cat, it’s in my dog, it’s in you,” he said. “How could it be otherwise? I watch my cat jumping to a little pinch on the fireplace. Now, he can’t write a book, he doesn’t know anything about philosophy or mathematics. But how the hell does he do that? That is totally awe-inspiring.”
