Ashanti has COVID-19, the singer said Saturday, announcing on Instagram that her Apple Music Verzuz musical showdown with Keyshia Cole has been canceled.
The two singers were to have squared off at 5 p.m. Pacific time on Saturday.
“Hey y’all, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I tested positive for COVID-19,” the R&B songstress told fans in the post.
“I’m ok and not in any pain. I’m actually down to do the verzuz from my house … we’re trying to figure it all out!!!”
Instead, the two songbirds shared an Istagram Live video. And Cole, 39, told Ashanti, 40, that it was ok to just skip the event and take care of herself.
The event has been rescheduled for Jan. 9.
