This unit contains a lot of great stuff, all high-quality and well packed. The weight comes mostly from the water packs, and there is a filter system to supplement. Mark the expiration date of the water on the outside so you can replace it in five years. Everything else is shelf stable for 30 or so years. Some room for additional equipment. I recommend:- Loose, extra batteries- Crank Radio/Phone Charger- Matches/Lighters… Yes, you can use the flint, but why would you want to work that hard? Get some cheap Bics)- Small bottle of high-quality vodka/rum/whisky. Just, you know, in case.

First, I don’t know if it was the company or Amazon that did this, but we ordered this bag to hopefully have in time for Hurricane Irma to hit Florida. We placed the order on Sept 5, 2017. Prime shipping was not an option, but standard shipping was free with Prime. There were no rush shipping options. Amazon estimated it would get here Sept 11-13, after the hurricane. It arrived Sept 7, 2017! We were thrilled. My boyfriend and I are very happy with the quality of the bag and everything in it. The bag itself is comfortable and has plenty of room for packing even more stuff. We’re going to put some Sterno cans in it to go with the stove, but it has everything else you could possibly need. We have other supplies for using in the house, but if we have to GTFO for any reason, it’s our grab’n’go bag.My only complaint is that I wish the camp stove had use instructions.

After opening this pack and going through its contents to ensure it had what we needed based on our location, I only added the following to the pack:- a better first aid kit- batteries for the included lanterns- a battery bank for our phonesits important that you go through everything in this kit to ensure you have everything you need. batteries for the included lantern would have been great for the company to throw in. the first aid kit is severely lacking, and i would recommend purchasing a premade kit or building your own. this is a very budget friendly pack for a vehicle, but once i went to zip it back up,the zipper on the main compartment broke. this is one of the most important parts of this kit and it failed on its first use.the zipper that holds all your contents together and ready to take with you at a moments notice when disaster strikes could potentially render all your gear useless if it cant even keep it together in one place. that is the reason i have given this backpack a 1 star review. the construction of this backpack is such that the zipper itself cannot easily be repaired. I purchased two of these kits and will be looking at upgrading the pack itself since it wouldn’t even pass as a child’s school backpack

MAJOR CORRECTION: I was not happy to find that this info contained here is incorrect after making my purchase.Documentation that came with product indicated food has a 5 year shelf life, NOT 30 years as indicated within Customer’s Questions and Answers. My documentation did not indicate a shelf life for the water so I googled the suppliers website and verified that water and food both have 5 year shelf life.I guess the trick is not to count on information contained in customer’s questions and answers.

It’s strange that for such a high quality product, Sustain Supply Co doesn’t have an online presence. No website. No FB. No Twitter/Instagram.But I suppose in an emergency, that doesn’t really matter.I’m the farthest thing from a “doomsday prepper”. However in the wake of all the natural disasters, we thought it might be prudent to have an emergency bag just in case. Searches on Amazon will provide results for packs such as “ready america” which I’m sure work great. However stumbling onto the Sustain Supply Co kit, this appears to be a superior product. After spending some time researching the contents:Mountain House Dried Food: Very well known brand for freeze dried food and apparently one of the better tasting onesDatrex Emergency Water: Standard for emergency waterSawyer Squeeze: One of the top rated water filtration systemsMoraKniv: Highly rated knifeInstafire Tinder: Well rated fire starterCyalume Light Sticks: Military grade. Top rated light sticksStarting to see a theme? You get the feeling that this kit was assembled by people who wanted essentials that worked the best. The backpack itself is very comfortable to carry, durable and has plenty of extra room for additional items. Fully loaded, the backpack weights about 17 pounds.Really happy with this purchase….just hope we never have to use it!

Having purchased other survival bags to dissect and reassemble with my own spin, this package is a cut above the rest. Quality supplies, a good bag, and a really good knife.

I have no idea what went down, but I am NOT happy! I ordered the 4 person kit. I was super excited because it was the best one I had found. The stove, Ferrocerium rod, and actual meals were awesome. Paid over $360 and I bought it was well worth it, but when it arrived I was missing over half of the kit. It was like they packed the bag for a two person kit, but missed that mark too. Not to mention one of the water quarts (which was not even supposed to be in the bag per the description) was leaking in the bottom of the bag. Full list of missing items below. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY! SHAME ON SUSTAIN SUPPLY CO!!!MISSING:-14/24 Mountain House food servings- 48 Packets of Datrex water- 4/8 Cyalume SnapLights- 1/2 LED lanterns- 2/2 bath wipes- 1/1 portable stove- 2/4 bowls and utensils- 1/1 Ferrocerium rod- 2/4 InstaFire tinder- 2/4 whistles

This kit arrived promptly [purchase prompted by recent tornadoes in our city that caused extensive damage and power outages in large parts of the city].Largely as advertised though there were no batteries included for the emergency lattern and only one emergency blanket though the kit is advertised for two people [one blanket is hardly “huddle together friendly” for the wife and I!The food rations, such as they are, wouldn’t be enough for two people to function normally for three days if you were using this in a wilderness setting… stress, bad weather and lack of cover means you need more calories, not fewer than the daily recommendation for adults. On the other hand, the carrying bag seems well made and the products themselves don’t appear cheap and shoddy as such items often appear to be in the store when you shop with economy in mind.Hope we never need to use it.

Very happy with the bag in general, everything seemed really good quality, the knife and gear ect. just one minor packaging issue. The one food package had a small hole so it wasnt vacuum sealed. Mistakes happen though, and all in all it’s a great product. Also I do wish the bag could have been a little bigger.

I thought the bag would be slightly bigger. It’s great tho! Perfect for emergencies 😊

Would have been nice if batteries for the lantern were included.
