I’ve bought each of the national brands of tuna during the past 6 months. To me, there’s no question that Starkist is the best of the bunch. (I’m comparing solid white to solid white, packed in water.) Better taste, “whiter” color, larger more solid pieces. This is the one to get.

  2. Bravo Charlie

At $1.25 a can, the price is reasonable. Compared to Kirkland Albacore – Kirkland is my preference. Something about it. I dunno. However, out of the national brands, Bumble Bee, Chiecken of the Sea, etc StarKist Albacore is better than the rest – in water always better. You can always add Olive Oil yourself. I don’t get why it has Soy in the product though.

  3. 4UJames

Liars! NOT SOLID! It’s this gross, super watery mushy stuff that looks more like a cheap “chunky” brand of tuna. I thought maybe it was just a fluke, but I’ve opened several cans already in the past couple of weeks, and they are all gross. They all smell super fishy as well, which TRUE solid white albacore doesn’t.I usually buy this in the grocery store, and I’ll eat it right out of the can on a bed of lettuce. It’s usually delicious! I thought that’s what I was getting here, only at a better price. Wrong. I now have to smother it in mayonnaise and hold my nose in order to eat it. Disgusting! It really looks and smells like cat food. What a waste of money! Never again!

  4. JMJ

They’re not 5 ounce cans. They’re only 4 ounces. A 20% reduction in product volume.

I received a notification from Amazon that the tuna I regularly receive as part ofy subscribe and save subscription was not available but that they made a substitution. Why did I not take that as a warning sign, I do not know but I most certainly won’t allow Amazon to make product substitutions ever again. Yuck, MUSH! I was so shocked, I put down the can, rinsed my hands and got my phone as soon as I opened the lid. The photos show the contents of the can exactly as it arrived, I didn’t even drain out the liquid before I took the pictures. Most certainly not the quality I expected to receive for this price and not nearly as good as my usual Bumblebee. I will not be eating this myself. I gave the can I opened (shown in the photos) to the dogs and I will donating the rest of the case to my community canned food drive next month. If you are looking for a high quality solid tuna product, this is NOT the one to buy.

I have used Starkist products for literally decades, and this IS NOT UP TO THEIR STANDARDS!This is a second or third tier product, it looks much more like cat food than Solid Albacore Tuna. it has a foul fishy odor, NOTHING LIKE THE STARKIST PRODUCTS I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST!Tried 4 cans out of a case of 24, threw the rest in the trash, I wont even feed it to the cat.Amazon , if they had ANY class would refund my money, and ban the seller for false advertising.

  7. Todd M.

I usually buy it at the food store but the price was better here because of some discounts so there’s no need to buy it elsewhere. This is outstanding tuna compared to whatever the store’s brand name was in the can and we prefer it over the named brands of regular tuna. We have 7-cats, two of which are frequent visiting strays, and they all know when a can is opened. We don’t eat a lot of tuna but the Albacore seems to be distinctly better than other tuna and I’m not at all disappointed with this product. It’s either this one or Chicken of the Sea and this one arrived in March 2020 with a late 2022 date so no reason not to stock up on it some more.

  8. J. Elliott

These are advertised as an 8 pack of 5 ounce cans, containing “Solid White Albacore Tuna” in water. Completely false! The cans are 4 ounces, not 5! There were 6 cans, not 8! A complete rip off!!!Furthermore, the Tuna is not solid – it is a pureed mush that flows out of the can in tuna colored water – hard to distinguish between the tuna and the water. This is tuna soup, and the worst canned tuna I have ever purchased. The cheapest Costco tuna is orders of magnitude better than this product.Sorry Charlie, this is not the Starkist I have purchased in the past, and you have lost my business for good!
