When my very loud, clunky, not too nice Nesco suddenly bit the dust I was really struggling with what type of dehydrator to buy to replace it. After much research I settled on this NutriChef and I am so thrilled with my decision! I live in a studio apartment so the number one priority for me was noise. This thing is whisper quiet! I can run it while watching TV or on the phone and you can’t hear it. The other thing I’m very happy about is that it’s compact in design. I feel like I can get more loaded onto this than my old dehydrator (probably due to this having 5 trays instead of 4, and not having dead space in the center for that pesky hole). The trays are super sturdy and I don’t have to worry about them breaking like I did on my last one. I ordered some bpa free screen sheets and cut them to fit the trays in case I want to dry anything super small (green onions, herbs…) and that’s worked out well. Air circulation is great and everything dries a bit quicker than what I’m used to. Very happy, would not hesitate to recommend this dehydrator!

Well, I bought this product to make beef jerky and dried fruits. While I was looking for jerky recipes, I decided to make banana and strawberry chips and dried blueberries. Have used it 4 times and have yet to make beef jerky. But the banana chips,strawberry chips and blueberriess that I’ve dried have been great.Things I like: Easy to use and clean up. Doesn’t get to hot and following the included instructions results in some tasty treats. Trays can be stacked short or tall depending on what you’re dehydrating, and so far, I’ve had no problems. Instructions are easy to read and follow. Will eventually get around to making jerky. In the meantime, I’ll continue with dried fruit chips and fruit leathers (rollups). Will purchase one for my daughter and son and daughter in law. They have children that like dried fruit and what you make with this doesn’t have any additives. Would recommended.

Love this little unit. Just the right size for my small kitchen. Just made my 1st batch of beef jerky in it. I was really happy with how fast it was done.Took only 6.5 hours with all five trays full. Would recommend this product. I have had three dehydrators in the past years and this is by far the best.

I gave this as a Christmas gift and my daughter was absolutely delighted with it. She put it to work right away. So far we have done bananas, apples, and oranges. This is very simple to assemble and use, with plenty of space for food. We can’t wait to try herbs next

I really like this dehydrator. Quiet and simple to use. There is no temperature adjustments or other unnecessary buttons. Just press the “on” button and you’re good to go! I dehydrate veggies, rice and beans all at once for backpacking meals. Be sure to rotate trays after a few hours to ensure even drying. To prevent spillage between trays, I purchased additional screen sheets for smaller foods and food grade solid sheet for liquids, I cut the sheets to size and placed on top of each tray before adding food. An alternative is to use parchment paper.

The dehydrator is a bit smaller than IU thought, and I thought it had a clear square trays for the food, but it turns out that you have to leave the center empty. I bought it for drying onions, as I didn’t want to use my bigger, primary dehydrator for those. It worked pretty well, the first batch too about 20 hrs (!) but the second batch went much faster, because I put less in. I would say that for a kitchen, the quiet operation is a plus, and the good looking appearance is too. Overall pretty satisfied, but glad it’s not my only option at home. If you don’t do a whole lot of dehydrating, it would be a great tool.
