The Chinese city of Wuhan plans to test all 11 million residents for coronavirus after a new cluster of confirmed cases emerged at the original epicenter of the pandemic, according to a report.
The ambitious endeavor, which will test the population over a 10-day period, comes after six new cases were reported, according to the Telegraph.
Health officials have called on every district in the city to come up with a testing plan by Tuesday for their residents.
Wuhan ended its lockdown last month and had gone 35 days without new cases when the latest cluster was detected, the outlet reported.
The new cases include two couples in their 70s and 80s and two women ages 46 and 29, all of whom live in the same residential compound, according to the report.
The patients had previously been classified as asymptomatic — meaning the people displayed no symptoms of the virus — and China does not count such cases in its official tally of confirmed infections.
