Russian President Vladimir Putin is self-isolating after cases of COVID-19 were detected in his entourage, Russian media reports on Tuesday.

Putin “said that in connection with the detected cases of coronavirus in his environment, he must observe the regime of self-isolation for a certain period of time,” a statement issued to journalists reads. It doesn’t say for how long Putin will isolate.

The Russian leader shook hands on Monday with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Moscow.

The Kremlin says Putin will not change his work schedule, which is moved online. Yet, he canceled a trip to Tajikistan to attend regional security meetings.

Putin, who is 68 years old, said he was vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine in spring.
