Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s daily televised press briefings on the coronavirus have apparently earned him some fans, according to some Twitter users Saturday who were ready to send him to the White House.
“Proud to have Gov Cuomo not only leading NY but also the country. #PresidentCuomo,” @RastaRusty Tweeted “We’re[sic] already tested more people than any city . . .”
“President Cuomo is really raising the bar for leadership [right now], and I’m here for it. #PresidentCuomo #CoronavirusPandemic,” @j_m_storm wrote.
At a news conference earlier in the day, Cuomo kept up his terse rhetoric directed at millennials and Gen Z, threatening: “There’s a significant amount of non-compliance, especially in New York City, especially in parks. I’m gonna go down there today, I want to see what the situation is myself.”
A state-approved graphic appeared on a split screen, reading: “Younger people not fully complying . . . YOU ARE WRONG.”
“YOU ARE WRONG” was also trending on Twitter Saturday.
Cuomo on Friday shut down all non-essential businesses, is credited with pushing Mayor Bill de Blasio to close public schools and has instituted a lockdown for New York State set to begin Sunday night.
Some say he’s outshined both President Trump and the mayor, even in the eyes of some of Hizzoner’s own aides, sources told the Post last week.
“Sorry, getting my info from #PresidentCuomo, thanks. Not a chance in hell I’d watch your lying ass,” @stylewriterNYC Tweeted, referring to Trump.
But it’s not just his leadership style fans are fawning over.
Some news junkies say they have the hots for the 62-year-old dad and are salivating over his daily press briefings.
“He’s decisive, calming, gets things done — and he’s drop dead gorgeous,” WFAN’s Suzyn Waldman, 73, told The Post. “Everybody always looks for someone who will say, ‘It’s going to be OK.’”
