White students in public schools in Chicago, among other cities, have been opting for in-person learning at higher rates than their non-white peers, though they have also been participating in remote learning at higher rates. While CPS has not made public the results of its latest intent-to-return surveys, in an October survey for students who could return in January, 51.6% of white students selected school-based learning, compared with 33.9% of Black students, 31% of Asian students and 29.7% of Latino students.
